The second night of The Voice Battle Rounds showed some awe-inspiring competition after Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Kelly Rowland helped their respective teams get down.
The night’s initial battle between Jennifer Hudson team members Davon Fleming and Maharasyi meant a hard-hitting rendition of the familiar Whitney Houston hit, I’m Your Baby Tonight.
Davon, who earned four chair turns during the Blinds, eventually emerged as the winner but not until JHud gave serious consideration toward picking his snazzy singing partner. “Y’all shut it down,” remarked their mentor on their performance.
Second up, Hannah Mrozak and Brandon Showell dueted on pop charter, Cold Water, by Major Laser featuring Justin Bieber and MO, a song that’s filled with runs galore. From among Team Adam competitors, Hannah won in a tough-to-call Battle Round.
Team Blake’s Nashville guys Mitchell Lee and Dennis Drummond performed Mr. Jones by Counting Crows. In this close competition of two heavy-hitter rockers who nicely harmonize and who handily hit the high notes, Mitchell conquered their quest but then Adam used a steal to save Dennis.
Also on the second night of Battle Rounds, Team Adam’s Dylan Gerard defeated Dave Crosby after presenting Doctor My Eyes.
Esera Tuaolo beat Rebecca Brunner after covering a countrified version of NSync’s This I Promise You, which meant remaining on Team Blake.
And, bold belter Chloe Kohanski overtook Illiana Viramontes on I Am Woman to comfortably remain on Team Miley.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesday at 8 p.m., ET, on NBC.
