Former Bachelorette couple Trista and Ryan Sutter have been married for 15 years, but that doesn’t mean their relationship has been smooth sailing. Though they both love and respect one another, they’ve had to work through their issues just like every other couple.
Trista and Ryan opened up to Women’s Health to explain how they’ve made it through 15 years of marriage.
“You need to put the time and effort into your relationship just as much as you put time and effort into everything else,” she explained.
“We keep things exciting by trying to take advantage of any moment that doesn’t involve our children.”
Trista and Ryan have two children together — 11-year-old Max and 9-year-old Blakesley.
“You keep things exciting by keeping things exciting. When we have an opportunity to do something, we do it. You have to try. We just try,” Ryan shared.
Not to mention, Ryan knows how to be romantic when it matters most!
“The most romantic thing Ryan has done for me is write a poem to me on the show and then turn it into a song recorded by Brad Paisley. He surprised me with that as our first dance on our wedding night,” she shared.
Trista took to Instagram on Valentine’s Day to share a sweet poem she wrote in honor of Ryan!
“Roses are red, Denim is blue. You’re my angel on earth, And I’ll always choose you. Happy Valentine’s Day, babe!!” she captioned the photo below.
Ryan also shared a photo of himself and Trista on Valentine’s Day too (see below), and he jokingly thanked his wife for loving him even with a mustache!
“Add a pinch of this. Then add another dash. Only a true Valentine, loves you with a stash…” he wrote.
Ryan and Trista decided to get out of Hollywood after The Bachelorette and they currently live in Vail, Colorado with their two kiddos.
Here’s to 15 more years, Trista and Ryan!
