Game of Thrones is an ensemble show, but there are definitely a handful of main characters. From Jon Snow to Arya Stark to Daenerys Targaryen, there are main cast members who fans love. However, there are quite of few smaller characters who have garnered just as much fan attention, if not more!

Though these characters weren’t in a lot of the show, they made the most of every scene they were in. Here are the five best Game of Thrones characters who had smaller roles.

1. Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey)
It’s crazy to think little Lady Mormont was only supposed to be in one episode of Game of Thrones. For being so young and small, Lyanna was definitely one of the fiercest characters on the show. She was so brave she even inspired Jon Snow to have courage. She was a hero to the end, taking out a giant White Walker as he crushed her to death.

2. Shireen Baratheon (Kerry Ingram)
Shireen, who survived Greyscale, couldn’t survive being the daughter of Stannis Baratheon. Before he sacrificed her to the Lord of Light, she changed the life of his advisor, Ser Davos, by teaching him how to read. Davos loved Shireen like his own daughter and their close bond was one of the sweetest relationships on the show.

3. Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg)
If for nothing else, you have to love The Queen of Thorns for killing Joffrey. The matriarch of House Tyrell didn’t take crap from anybody and had an incredible wit. She knew how to get people to do what she wanted, but she wasn’t evil like Cersei.

4. Hodor (Kristian Nairn)
Hodor was loyal and true. He, along with Osha, took care of Bran and Rickon and made sure to keep them safe. When they split up, he continued to carry a crippled Bran everywhere or wheel him around in the wagon. In the end, he sacrificed his own life to protect him.

5. Osha (Natalia Tena)
Osha, a wilding, was first brought to Winterfell as a prisoner, but she eventually helped Bran and Rickon escape after Theon took over. She cared for the two boys as they made their way up North and once they split up, she protected Rikon as best she could. In the end, Ramsay Bolton captured them. She tried to outsmart him, but he killed her.
