In the second episode of Grand Hotel that aired Monday night, the mystery surrounding Sky Garibaldi’s disappearance deepens, Danny takes a colleague into his confidence, and a performance by El Rey nearly sets Miami – quite literally- ablaze!
Below are the top five OMG moments we absolutely loved from the latest Grand Hotel episode entitled Smokeshow. See if our list matches up with your own.
Lock(er) and Key
Six months ago, while the category 4 hurricane raged outside the hotel, Sky (Arielle Kebbel) left her brother a frantic message telling him that she “found something” at the hotel that has gotten her into some serious trouble. Before heading for her meeting with Gigi, she hid a key inside a book in her locker.
Danny (Lincoln Younes) is able to recover the key (and discovered that Sky carried around an obituary for Santiago’s first wife), but he was caught by fellow co-worker Jason (Chris Warren). He had to reveal his identity and purpose for joining the hotel’s staff, breaking the rule that if you want to keep a secret — you tell no one.
An Audacious Plan
Arguing that the Mendoza family has more money than God, pregnant Ingrid (Anne Winters) continues to roll full steam ahead with her plan to use her baby to snag herself a wealthy prospect. She gets intel on Javi (Bryan Craig) so she can bluff about their “drunken night of passion.” The loser lothario falls for her tale hook, line, and sinker.
When Mateo (Shalim Ortiz) – the actual father – gets wind of Ingrid’s scheme, he warns the gold digger that she is playing with fire, but she defiantly counters that he can either step up or step off. Little does she know how dangerous Mateo himself actually is.
Santiago’s (Demian Bichir) mysterious backers demanded $500,000 so he reluctantly agrees to Alicia’s (Denyse Tontz) suggestion that El Rey (Jeancarlos Canela) perform at the hotel. The outdoor concert starts off well enough but during the closing number, El Rey set off fireworks that catch a nearby tent on fire and ends the concert quickly!
A Star Is Born
While Alicia and Santiago mourn the concert’s epic fail, Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez) takes charge. She parades El Rey to the press, announces he accepted a full-time residency, and “reveals” that 2,000 tickets have already sold. The exaggeration ignites demand for tickets, proves Momma knows best, and scores her a new VP job as Alicia’s boss!
Mateo was “delighted” that Santiago was able to produce the money for their bosses but his smug attitude was tamed when he enters his office and finds a box on his desk. It contains board game cash — and Sky’s missing hotel identification tag! Grand Hotel airs Monday nights on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
