The noose is tightening around the Monterey Five on Big Little Lies. As they feel the heat, some power players show signs of possibly cracking under the pressure. Will someone break? That was the question in this fifth episode of Season 2.

It’s beginning to feel like it isn’t a question of if but rather when — with different characters applying that pressure. And one person who seems to be able to push everyone’s buttons continues to be Mary Louise (Meryl Streep). Here are the top five moments from this episode, entitled Kill Me.

5. Natural Woman
Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Ed (Adam Scott) drove to a couple’s healing retreat, as Madeline sang to Carol King’s Natural Woman, asking Ed to be open to whatever happens. They ended up being told to hug strangers and they quickly bolted. It led to a heart-to-heart, with Madeline promising to never cheat again. But will he?

4. Blabbing to the Boys
Mary Louise made a play to the judge with an opening statement that went unanswered by Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) lawyer. She warned Celeste that they are trying to provoke her. Once home, Celeste filled in her boys about what their grandmother was doing. It was touching to see the boys choose her and Josh even reached out with a loving touch.

3. Ripped From The Headlines
A needy Celeste wanted confirmation that her lawyer was solid so she asked Renata (Laura Dern) about her. Her assistant interrupted to deliver the bad news — Renata was no longer wanted in the powerful women article because of the bankruptcy. Ouch! Celeste managed to survive but it wasn’t pleasant later for Gordon!

2. The Bully
The school bully Brian told Ziggy he was a mistake but when Josh and Max come to Ziggy’s defense, Brian spouts that their dad was a rapist, causing the boys to all gang up on Brian. They get suspended. Jane (Shailene Woodley) asked Ziggy what was said and was crushed when he told her. Ziggy admitted he likes Corey (Douglas Smith).

1. A Spy Among Them
Realizing they’d have to tell the truth during the custody battle, the women worried Mary Louise was in cahoots with the police (which she probably is). Pushed to the limit, Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) drove to the police department, probably to confess — but in a shocking moment — she saw Corey coming out!
