ABC has announced that The Good Doctor will return to the air on Nov. 2, and after the devastating season finale that saw Dr. Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) succumb to internal injuries suffered during a heroic rescue when a brewery collapsed, changes will definitely be a-brewing.
The Good Doctor Enters Season 4
Here are some things that fans have been wondering about ever since Season 3 came to its dramatic end.
1. What About Claire?
Will Dr. Melendez’s death send Claire (Antonia Thomas) back down her spiral. After all, she recently lost her mom in an accident that she blames herself for, and the only thing that seemed to get her out of her depression was the close bond she was developing with her chief of surgery. Now that he’s gone, will Dr. Browne be able to stay on the straight-and-narrow and be the amazing caregiver she has shown to be?
2. Some Good Love For The Good Doctor?
It wasn’t all grim news in the finale, as Shaun (Freddie Highmore) was incredibly heroic himself in saving a woman trapped in the basement, and Lea (Paige Spara) was waiting for him when he got out and the two shared a passionate kiss. We’ve known Dr. Murphy has had feelings for his roommate for a long time, but now that Lea has finally admitted to herself that she needs him, are we looking at a full-blown coupling this season?
3. A Triangle?
Shaun showed last year he could adjust to a relationship with his pairing with girlfriend Carly (Jasika Nicole). She’s no longer a regular cast member, but will Dr. Lever be around at all to throw some wrinkles into Shaun and Lea’s relationship?
4. Dr. Glassman’s Future?
Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) is back at work after battling brain cancer but will he be able to step back into his former role as Chief of Staff or will he serve some other purpose at the hospital going forward? And will the cancer get the best of him at some point?
5. Doctor Shortage?
Dr. Park announced he was moving to Arizona to be there for his wife and son, and it’s since been announced that actor Will Yun Lee will be departing the show as a regular as well. With Melendez and Park gone, and Dr. Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) no longer able to operate due to a hand problem, who will come in to join the team?
Surely, we need some new faces at St. Bonaventure Hospital —or perhaps an old face, like Dr. Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu), who might be able to mend Claire’s broken heart? The Good Doctor will air Mondays on ABC starting November 2. Check your local listings for airtimes.
