Gilead believes it has mastered the art of propaganda but perhaps our OMG gasp at seeing Serena and Fred on a television set made to look like a Gilead green home came from “Who in Canada is going to fall for this?” Especially with that blood red that sticks out like a sore thumb in the guise of June, new Handmaid’s dress and all.
In the past, Gilead has tried keeping Handmaids under cloak, so to speak. Now, here she was for all of Canada to see. There are countless refugees from Gilead living in Canada. They can tell the truth. And so could June’s absolutely piercing glare.
The Mix Tape
So, it looks like Serena did one right thing. She seems to have kept the family heirloom she wanted to give Nichole and instead placed June’s cassette tape in that box she convinced Luke to tape. What seemed like just a mixtape of 80s music at first, to try to cheer him up, turned out to be so much more.
It was a confession and a plea as it seems the cassette player June found also has a record button. While June told Luke that it’s okay to find solace with someone else while they are apart, she also told him that Nichole is really Holly and has no biological ties to the Waterfords at all.

Serena knows this, Nick knows this, and June knows this, but the rest of Gilead does not and we think that is going to come into play in a big way now that this little tidbit has made it to Canada.
