Justin Hartley, who played Adam on The Young and the Restless, is continuing his winning streak in more ways than one as a star on the hit NBC series This Is Us.
The actor recently dropped by the set of Today for the show’s fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb to talk about tonight’s episode of This Is Us, titled Vegas, Baby.
The show’s characters go to Las Vegas for the bachelor and bachelorette parties of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan).
If the episode sounds like it’s a bit of departure from the show’s usual heavy drama, you’re correct! “It was a bit of an exhale,” says Hartley, noting that there are some heartfelt moments in tonight’s episode along with the levity.
“We had fun,” Hartley adds of shooting the show on location.
During some down time in production, the actor tried his luck — and won — at both the blackjack table and the roulette wheel! “It wasn’t that much,” he said on Today. “But, if it’s a dollar, it’s a win.”
With the show currently on hiatus and off until July, Hartley says he and bride Chrishell Stause (ex-Bethany, Y&R; ex-Jordan, Days of Our Lives) now have a chance to take their overdue honeymoon! In a perfect world, Hartley would pop up as Adam on Y&R during the This Is Us break so he could help wrap up Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) storyline, but since Chelsea’s already high-tailed it out of Genoa City the timing just doesn’t seem to be right.
“We’re kicking around some ideas,” says Hartley, who loves being married. “There’s just really sexy and cool and awesome about saying, ‘This is my wife.'”
This Is Us airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET.
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
