This Is Us fans have been treated numerous times to the beautiful singing voice of Chrissy Metz—most recently in a fun duet between her character Kate and onscreen mom Rebecca (Mandy Moore) singing a karaoke version of Alanis Morissette’s Ironic in a late-season episode. The actress also has been putting out her own music.
Chrissy Mets — Behind the Music
Now, Metz has recorded a new song, Talking to God, and she shared a video on her Instagram page discussing the importance of the song’s message. The video shows a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of the song.
“This is a special song for me,” she shares. “All music is interpreted by everyone’s own perception, but for me, when I heard the song, when the line says, ‘I was talking to God last night and your name came up,’ for me, that was thinking about and praying about people who may not be in your life anymore but may have had an impact on your life or a special place in your heart.”
She adds though these people—who could be from a previous relationship or friendship—may not be good for you any longer, that doesn’t change the fact that they were once important and you may still care about them and wish them well.

“Even though I had no part in writing it, I just knew that I had to tell the story because I’ve lived it and I think we all have,” Metz says.
The country song, written by Nicolette Hayford, Connie Harrington, Jake Mitchell, Ashley McBryde, and Aaron Raitiere, is the first from her upcoming debut album.
“We all, unfortunately, have regrets or decisions we wish we would have made differently,” she said. It’s a great message, but even so, let’s hope her This is Us alter ego doesn’t let Marc back into her life after all the emotional abuse he put a teen Kate through that came out this season.
