This Is Us is currently on hiatus and cast members are busy taking on other projects. Series star Sterling K. Brown is going to be joining another series while the Pearson clan is taking a breather.
Brown, an Emmy winner for his role as Randall, is joining the Emmy-award-winning cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the Amazon Prime sitcom that has acquired quite a rabid following in its two seasons so far.
“I’m beyond excited to share some pretty marvelous news…#MrsMaisel, I’m coming for you!” Brown says in an Instagram post he shared that was also picked up by the show’s official Instagram page.
In the video post, Brown announces that series creator/executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino were kind enough to write a role for him on the show. Brown said he’d be leaving Los Angeles soon to head to New York to film his part.
The best news, of course, is that this will take place during the This Is Us hiatus so screentime for Randall will not be affected!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel tells the story of a housewife in the 1950s, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan), who decides to try her hand at stand-up comedy.
Season 2 ended with Midge agreeing to go on a potentially career-making six-month tour but doing that also torpedos her current relationship. So for her last night, she turned to her ex-husband, Joel, because he’s someone who “understands” her. Will they reunite or will she go on tour? And what part will Brown play in all of this?
Soap Hub will bring more details of Brown’s role on the Amazon hit series as they become available.
