Sterling K. Brown took advantage of some downtime from working on This Is Us to take on an exciting new role — that of a CIA agent who walked away from his duties in the new film The Rhythm Section, which also stars Blake Lively (Gossip Girl).
Sterling K. Brown Previews New Role
The actor recently put a preview of the film on Instagram. You can see his entire post below. The film stars Lively as a woman who seeks revenge after her family is killed in a plane crash. “Why did you leave the CIA?” Lively’s character, Stephanie Patrick, asks Brown’s, Marc Serra, in a preview clip.
“For the things they asked me to do went way beyond the call of duty,” Brown’s character responds. It’s a definite departure for his fans who are used to seeing him as Randall Pearson each week on the hit NBC show.
The film is an international spy movie that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. It’s been three years since Stephanie, who was supposed to be on the flight, lost her family. She learns that the crash was not an accident and she goes on a mission to track down those responsible for her family dying by taking on the guise of an assassin.
Exciting New Film
The Rhythm Section also stars Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) as Iain Boyd, Max Casella as Leon Giler, Daniel Mays as Dean Est, Geoff Bell as Green, Richard Brake as Lehmans, Raza Jaffery as Keith Proctor, Tawfeek Barhom as Reza, and David Duggan as David Patrick.
The film’s production budget is reportedly around $50 million and the company producing it certainly knows about thrillers — as it has produced James Bond films. Production was temporarily held up on the movie after Lively was injured while filming her role. The film’s locales include Spain and Almeria.
The Rhythm Section was originally set for a February 2019 release. That was pushed to November 2019 and later to January 31, 2020. This is Us airs Tuesdays on NBC at 9 p.m.
