Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan loves to talk on The Walking Dead, whether it’s delivering elaborate soliloquy-like threats, striking up conversations to get people to open up (such as with Judith and Lydia), or simply to get under the skin of his enemies. Now, Morgan will get a chance to keep talking even while the show is on hiatus.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Host New Series
The actor posted on his Instagram account that he will co-host a new chat show on AMC with his wife Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill’s Peyton; Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr. Lauren Boswell) called Friday Night In with The Morgans, a weekly half-hour video-chat-based series.
“Alright folks. Gonna try something here…. very much, with your help, going to figure this out as we go,” Morgan posted on his page. “I will be throwing out a bunch more information as I get it… but the plan is to maybe smile and laugh in a time that has been very hard to smile, much less laugh.”
Filmed from their farm in upstate New York, the show premieres at 10 p.m. on April 17, with guest stars Jensen Ackles (Supernatural’s Dean) and his wife Danneel Ackles (ex-Shannon, One Life to Live). Morgan played Ackles’ dad on Supernatural and Ackles co-starred with Burton on One Tree Hill. And it was the Ackles that first introduced the Morgans to one another.
Another special guest on that first episode will be fellow Walking Dead star Christian Serratos (Rosita).
According to a press release put out by AMC, each episode will have a free-flowing, raw feel featuring unfiltered conversation about how people are getting through this unprecedented moment.
“Each week they will come together for conversations about how they are handling life in quarantine, practically helping communities, finding joy and even humor in these unprecedented times, entertaining themselves, and others, while in isolation – all done via video chat,” the release stated.
Future guests include The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies (ex-Lori), The League stars Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton, and family friend and local physician Dr. Sharagim Kemp.
“We will be interacting with fans and I’m sure, NOT fans as well, which is always a good time!” Morgan said.
