The Good Doctor’s Richard Schiff Gives COVID Update From The Hospital

Richard Schiff, best known to the viewing public as The West Wing’s Toby Ziegler and The Good Doctor’s Aaron Glassman, M.D., continues to fight the good fight against the infectious disease known as COVID-19. However, he is now doing so from a new location.

The actor took to Twitter on Monday and revealed that “I am in the hospital on Remdesivir, O2, and steroids, [and] showing some improvement every day.” Schiff also thanked his followers for their “love and support,” and provided an update on his wife and The Good Doctor co-star Sheila Kelley, who is also battling the virus.

“Sheila is home and doing better,” he wrote, “but still fairly ill.” The news of Schiff’s hospitalization comes three days after Kelley took to her own Twitter account and stated that her husband was “definitely slammed a bit harder than me…”

In response to his post, Schiff was inundated with well-wishes from fans and colleagues alike. @gcoffin954 sent the actor, “Thoughts and prayers for your continued recovery,” while @HSC_John encouraged Schiff to, “Keep fighting,” because, “Your voice is needed!”

Actress Joely Fisher sent her love, as did former The West Wing co-worker, writer/producer Lawrence O’Donnell, now MSNBC political commentator/television anchor. Mo Gaffney, a comedienne best known for role as con artist Bo Chrysalis Turtle on the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, whose sister is also suffering the ill effects of COVID also sent the couple her love and the encouragement to “hang in there.”

The news of Schiff’s decampment to the hospital comes nearly one week following his initial announcement that he and Sheila had tested positive for the virus. “This has been the most bizarre week of our lives,” he tweeted. “We are determined to find a way to health again.”
