After more than a week in the hospital due to complications from contracting COVID-19, actor Richard Schiff, The Good Doctor’s Dr. Aaron Glassman and most notably The West Wing’s Toby Ziegler, is finally home.
The actor has been keeping his fans updated, when he can, on social media about his COVID battle and took to Twitter on Thursday to let his worried fans know there was finally some good news.
“Covid update. Released from hospital,” he wrote. “As we speak. [Wife Sheila Kelley] picking me up. I’m so grateful for all the love and support. It’s overwhelmingly moving and touches me deeply. Thanks to fantastic nurses and docs. I’m aware of how lucky I am. So many still struggling. Love!”
Kelley, who plays Schiff’s on-screen wife Debbie Wexler on The Good Doctor, has been keeping fans updated on social media since both she and her husband found out their positive COVID diagnoses. While Kelley had slight symptoms, Schiff needed to go into the hospital to be given oxygen.
She’s posted on Instagram and Twitter about what he’s been going through, and some of it was scary. She admitted in one post “the last 72 hours have been tough” as she described what Schiff had been dealing with.
Just Wednesday, Schiff posted on Twitter himself, explaining, “I was just taken off Oxygen!! Markers are down. Cautiously optimistic for release soon. Perhaps all the prayers and thoughts need a big thank you,” he wrote. “Let’s keep sending positivity to everyone out there struggling. We got your back!”
Things are have moved in an even healthier direction with Schiff now home. Kelley confirmed the happy news herself, posting “Picking my love up from the hospital.” Fans and co-workers have been following closely along and share how happy they are to see the good news.
“Whoo hoo! Nothing makes me happier,” wrote Schiff’s former West Wing castmate Mary McCormack (National Security Advisor Kate Harper) on Twitter. “So glad you both are ok. Don’t ever scare me like that again please.” Entertainment Hub wishes him and Kelley continued health on their recovery. The Good Doctor airs Mondays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
