Ever since the CW announced that they would be rebooting “Dynasty” – the prime-time soap opera set in Denver that aired during much of the 1980s – fans and prospective viewers alike have been speculating about whether or not the new show would be able to hold its own amidst other, similar offerings. When the series premiered last week, we finally got our first look at what to expect… and unfortunately, the reception thus far has been pretty lackluster. Although many of the same elements that made the original entertaining are still present, critics had lamented the lack of an engaging narrative. The characters seem interesting enough, and the sets are beautiful, but there doesn’t seem to be much going on. Fortunately – especially for anyone who might have been expecting something more – it’s a well-known fact that new shows (even reboots) can take a little bit of time to build up their steam… so while it may not have made the biggest impact, we aren’t ready to count “Dynasty” out just yet.
