Survivor alums Joe Anglim and Sierra Dawn Thomas have done more than just survive the CBS show — they have huge news to share with the world.
The happy couple announced their engagement on Tuesday, April 10. The reality stars first met back in 2014 when they were both contestants on Survivor: Worlds Apart, which took place in Nicaragua. Though they met there, they didn’t start dating until after they were both off the show for some time.
Thomas shared a photo of her gorgeous ring on Instagram with the caption, “Forever and ever, amen.” Anglim also posted a picture of his fiancée’s ring with the caption, “Yes #forever. @sierra_dawn.”
According to People, the engagement happened while the couple was driving back from Anglim’s sister’s wedding in Arizona. They stopped to camp for the night, and that’s where the engagement went down!
“We pulled in just as the sun was setting, and we decided to go for a little walk. We found the perfect swinging chair facing the mountains and the most beautiful sunset. There were even some deer running across a dirt road! We popped a bottle of rosé and we were cheering in our clear plastic cups!” Thomas said.
“I was unknowingly interrupting him. He was explaining his love for me, and I would say, ‘yeah, baby. I love you too.’ But then he got off the swing, reached into his coat, and got on one knee. It finally hit me what he was doing. I started crying, and he started crying! We were both crying.”
