Star Wars is beloved by kids of all ages and so is The Muppet Show so it only made sense for the latter to invite players from the former onto its program. Recently, Mark Hamill revealed what that was like and how it left his son feeling a little confused!
In this very galaxy, but a long, long time ago, Star Wars actors did a lot of TV appearances to promote the galactic phenomenon created by George Lucas. Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, appeared on The Muppet Show on February 23, 1980 in an episode titled ‘The Stars Of Star Wars.’
Remarkably, as Hamill recalls in his tweet below, viewers got a sneak preview a few months early of the costume Luke would wear in the next Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back, but they probably had no idea that they had.
The Star Wars actor recently posted some photos on social media of himself and some memorable encounters with the Muppets, including a photo of him with his son, Nathan, and the late Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets.
“@NathanHamill was so young when he saw the show he was genuinely shocked his dad had a ‘twin,'” the senior Hamill wrote, noting Nathan hadn’t quite wrapped his head around the fact that his dad is a famous star!
Hamill is set to reprise Luke next in Star Wars: Episode IX, set for release later this year. You can read the actor’s full tweet below!
