Icon and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner passed away on Wednesday at the age of 91. His reach in the entertainment world was far and wide, and today — as news of his passing spread — soap actors remembered him.
While Hefner was never on a soap opera, he loved having soap opera stars in his famous magazine. Actresses like General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco (Sam) have graced the pages — as did co-star Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie), who was featured in a women of daytime tribute.
Actress Susan Sullivan, whose most famous soap roles included Lenore on Another World and Maggie on primetime’s Falcon Crest, was one of his famous Bunnies early in her career at the New York City Playboy Club in the ’60s. Zeman was one as well.
Kathryn Leigh Scott of Dark Shadows fame (and currently appearing as George Segal’s girlfriend Miriam in The Goldbergs) not only worked at the New York Club too, she interviewed more than 200 former bunnies for her book The Bunny Years.
Many in the soap world added their voices to those who marked the death of Hefner via social media.
