After five years of dating, pop star Gwen Stefani and country singer Blake Shelton have announced they are engaged. The two judges on this season of The Voice announced the news themselves.
Stefani posted a photo on Instagram showing the two kissing after the special moment, proudly displaying the ring on her finger. She also included a small message that confirmed her answer — “yes please!” she wrote.
Shelton posted his own Instagram message using the same photo writing “thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you,” he wrote. “I heard a YES!”
The two were dressed casually and appeared to be inside an old church.
Both singers serve as judges on The Voice and the No Doubt singer officially announced their relationship in November 2015 at the CMAs in Nashville, after rumors continued to intensify about their love life.
At the time, Stefani had just ended her marriage to Gavin Rossdale while Shelton had broken up with his wife, fellow country singer Miranda Lambert.
Shelton and Stefani took home a joint CMT Music Award earlier this year for best collaborative video for their loving duet, “Nobody But You.”
Late last year, Blake Shelton talked to Entertainment Tonight about their relationship and expressed his reasons for falling in love with the singer.
“She’s never not been supportive or a cheerleader, just the most encouraging person I’ve ever had in my life, on any level,” he said. “It’s unbelievable how supportive she is. I tell her this all the time, and she doesn’t realize it, but Gwen’s one of these people that I learn so much from, because no matter what the situation is, she has a way of looking at something from every angle possible, and understanding if there’s turmoil or something going on, instead of just jumping to conclusions or reacting, it’s, ‘Well, here’s why they may feel that way.’”
