Will & Grace star Sean Hayes was scheduled to appear on The Ellen Show two weeks ago but he didn’t make that date. However, this funny fellow had a good excuse: He was in the hospital.
In fact, Hayes’ problem was so dire that he needed to undergo a serious procedure to take care of a rare problem: His small intestine had burst, poisoning the rest of his body.
“I went to bed at night and all of a sudden I felt this excruciating pain in my stomach so I went to the ER,” the 47-year-old actor explained Wednesday when he was finally able to appear on Ellen’s show.
Right away, surgeons went in laparoscopically to, as Hayes put it, “clip off the bad part and put it back together.” Then he quipped, “You know with, like, a chip clip.”
To create even more levity about the situation, Hayes brought along a couple of pulmonary props so he and Ellen could play a game.
