Sarah Palin’s Husband Todd Palin Files For Divorce

Another big-name couple is coming to an end as news hits that Sarah Palin and her husband Todd Palin are splitting after 31 years of marriage. The news was officially made public on Monday.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, which was the first place to report the split, Todd filed for divorce from the former Alaska governor on Friday. The 55-year-old cited “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife” as the reason for the dissolution of their marriage.

Todd is also seeking joint custody of their son Trigg, as he is the only one of their children still under the age of 18. The couple, who were high school sweethearts, married in 1988 and have four other children together — Willow, Track, Piper, and Bristol Palin.

Sarah, who became governor in 2006, rose to prominence when she was selected as Senator John McCain’s running mate during the 2008 election. Though they didn’t win the election, Sarah and her entire family immediately became somewhat of a pop culture phenomenon.

Not only was their daughter Bristol pregnant during the election at the age of 17, but she also went on to compete on Dancing With the Stars two times. She also starred on the eighth season of Teen Mom but decided to leave the show earlier this year.

Julianne Moore played Palin in the HBO film Game Change, which was released in 2012, and even won a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance! One could say Moore’s soap opera background on Edge of Night and As The World Turns prepared her for the dramatic role.
