Rosie O’Donnell Revives Show To Help Actors Hurt By Coronavirus Shutdown

Add Rosie O’Donnell to the list of celebrities who are lending their star power to help those affected by the coronavirus shutdown. Recently, the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show host made a big announcement that’s going to help a lot of people.

Rosie O’Donnell Does Her Part

Broadway World reports that O’Donnell and actor/producer Erich Bergman have announced that the Emmy-award winning The Rosie O’Donnell Show will return for one night only and will air on YouTube. Proceeds will go to The Actors Fund. The show will broadcast live on Sunday, March 22 at 7 p.m. ET.

The show will benefit The Actors Fund. Some of the performers appearing on the show will participate via the comfort of their own home. Watch for entertainment from Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Darren Criss, Gloria Estefan, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Harvey Fierstein, David Foster, Morgan Freeman, Judith Light, Barry Manilow, Audra McDonald, Katharine McPhee, and Neil Patrick Harris.

Also set to appear are Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kelli O’Hara, Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Randy Rainbow, Chita Rivera, Alan Menken, Seth Rudetsky, Lea Salonga, Jordin Sparks, Ben Vereen, Miranda Sings, Nate Berkus, Rob McClure, Lauren Patten, Adrienne Warren, James Wesley, Megan Hilty, Sebastian Arcelus, Skylar Astin, Beth Behrs, Erich Bergen, Andrew Rannells, Stephanie J. Block, Tituss Burgess, Norbert Leo Butz, Gavin Creel, and more!

“Everybody who knows me knows that Broadway has been one of the brightest lights in my life since the time I was a little girl,” O’Donnell said in a statement. “It has also been the lifeblood of New York City for generation after generation.

“After all Broadway has given to the world, now – in this time of tremendous need – it’s our turn to give something back. There is no better way to support this community than via The Actors Fund. And, with a line-up like this, I dare you not to tune in.”

John McDaniel, The Rosie O’Donnell Show’s original Music Director/Composer/Producer is also set to take part in the show. The Rosie O’Donnell Show aired for six seasons during which time O’Donnell brought Broadway performances to her audience. In 2014, the Tony Awards honored O’Donnell with the Isabelle Stevenson Award for her commitment to arts education.
