How Did Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Meet?

Ripa began working on the now-defunct ABC soap All My Children in 1990. The show was looking for a love interest for her character, Hayley, which was where she met Mark Consuelos. He was cast as her love interest, Mateo, in 1995. The pair had instant chemistry, and they started dating almost right away.

After a year of dating, Consuelo’s proposed to Ripa in their apartment over pizza. He suggested they get married the next day, so these two went to Las Vegas and eloped on May 1, 1996. They then went on a honeymoon in Italy.

A Decade Later
Because they eloped, Ripa and Consuelos did not exchange rings when they got married. Consuelos then decided to finally buy his beautiful wife a ring in honor of their 10-year anniversary in 2006. Ripa has revealed in interviews that it’s now one of her most prized possessions.

Three’s Company

Kelly Ripa and Consuelos have three children together and they had their oldest son, 22-year-old Michael, one year after they tied the knot. Their second child, a daughter named Lola, is 18 years old and they also have a son named Joaquin, who is 16 years old.

Following their years of being co-stars in the ‘90s, Ripa and Consuelos reunited on his current show, Riverdale, for one episode last season. In fact, Ripa played Consuelos’s mistress, Ms. Mulwray.
