Having been together for more than a decade with nary a scandal between them, primetime and former soap stars Eric Winter (ex-Rex, Days of our Lives) and Roselyn Sánchez (ex-Pilar, As the World Turns) are truly the definition of “relationship goals.”
Truth be told, Winter and Sánchez’s first meeting is a pretty common “boy celebrity meets girl celebrity” story. By happenstance, the two made each other’s acquaintance at a celebratory bash thrown somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area in 2005.
Even though each party felt an immediate connection to the other, Winter later admitted that nearly three months had elapsed before “it finally crossed my mind to ask her out.”
Sushi was served on their first date. That initial interlude proved so successful that plans for a second were quickly underway. This time, the nascent couple traveled to picturesque Mammoth Lakes and stayed together for an entire weekend.
Engagement
From that point on, the pair were nearly inseparable. Three years later, Winter popped the question during a midnight kayak ride through the island of Vieques’ Bioluminescent Bay. And, just as December 31, 2007 gave way to the New Year, Sánchez said yes!
In a humorous coda to such a romantic-sounding proposal, Winter revealed he was so worried that Sánchez would drop the 4.3-carat diamond ring into the drink that he “shut the box and told her she could see it again on land.”
When Two Become One
Ten months later – Saturday, November 29 to be exact – 250 guests, mostly family and close friends, gathered at the historic San Cristobal Castle in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico to bare witness to the couple pledging their troth.
The bride arrived at the venue in a Mercedes Benz looking resplendent in a voluminous white gown, hand-embroidered with pearls and diamonds. At the end of the alter waited Winter, cutting a dashing figure in his black tuxedo.
And Babies Make Five
Four years after being pronounced husband and wife, the duo welcomed 6lb 14 oz Sebella Rose into the world. The plan to give Sebella a little brother or sister was marred by their inability to conceive a second child naturally.
The former Grand Hotel star candidly spoke about undergoing six rounds of in-vitro fertilization over a period of six years before receiving conformation from Winter that she was pregnant. “I always tell [the doctors to] call [Eric] because I don’t want to get the phone call [revealing whether or not the latest treatment proved successful].”
Picking up the story, Winter, who now co-stars on ABC’s The Rookie, went on to say, “I brought her home a little card that was basically like, ‘You’re having a baby. I gave it to her… she read it and burst into tears… She was so happy.”
For many years, the spouses sought out a project that they could star in together but their strict criteria for such a project – “…something fun and cute that was a family affair,” – didn’t leave them many options.
Instead, that entered a producing partnership, collaborated on and released a children’s book entitled Sebi and the Land of Cha Cha Cha, and even recorded a podcast – He Said, Ella Dijo.
However, the time opportunity to act together finally presented itself in the form of a made-for-television romantic comedy produced by the Hallmark Channel. Called A Taste of Summer, Sánchez played Gabby, a budding restaurateur who butts head with local hot-spot owner Caleb, played by Winter. Of course, their animosity eventually gives way to romance before the credits begin to roll.
