Chris Pratt and Anna Faris were a powerhouse comedy couple for almost a decade, and though their high-profile romance has since ended, they are still close for the sake of their son.
Pratt has since moved on with his current wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger (daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver), and Faris is also in a new relationship, but we’ll never forget this pair! From how they first met to their sad split, find out more about this once-great celebrity romance.
How Did Chris Pratt and Anna Faris Meet?
Pratt and Faris first met on the set of the movie Take Me Home Tonight in 2007, and they had an instant connection. However, Faris was married to actor Ben Indra at the time, so Pratt didn’t ask her out until she split from her husband at the end of 2007. The two bonded over both being goofy but also — get this — collecting dead bugs.
Overseas Wedding
After just a year together, the couple got engaged in 2008 — and Pratt wanted an engagement ring too so he got one. They eventually married on July 9, 2009, in Bali in a very small ceremony.
Pratt revealed at the time that they didn’t want family involved and wanted to elope instead but they were there and there was a fistfight on the dance floor — which he loved. Pratt later upgraded Faris’s engagement ring — a giant diamond sparkler that she showed off at the Passengers premiere. He was happy, calling it even because she got him a tractor!
Welcome to the World, Jack!
Nearly three years after getting married, Pratt and Faris announced they were pregnant with their first child in May 2012. Their son, Jack, was born nine weeks early in August 2012 and he only weighed three pounds. Both Faris and Pratt have been very open about the struggles of having a premature child and the stress they felt during those first few months after his birth.
Legendary Co-Stars
Since they met on set, it’s no surprise Pratt and Faris appeared in movies and television shows together throughout their time together. They were in the 2011 movie What’s Your Number, as well as Faris’s television show, Mom, where he played her love interest.
Calling It Quits
After eight years of marriage, Pratt and Faris announced their separation on August 7, 2017. They both shared statements on social media and confirmed they will work together to co-parent their son. Pratt officially filed for divorce on December 2, 2017.
