How Did Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison Meet?

They met on the set of Twilight in 2007 — introduced when Pattinson came in to do his screentest with Stewart. Though she was dating actor Michael Angarano at the time, there was definitely a connection and it became clear to director Catherine Hardwicke that he was the right choice for Edward Cullen.

Making It Official
They were just friends throughout the filming and promotion of Twilight, but when Stewart split from Angarano in 2009, rumors began swirling that the two stars were an item.

Despite never confirming their status, the pair became inseparable throughout the promotion of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and even accepted the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss, which caused a stir in the Twilight fandom. By 2010, they were spotted visiting one another on the set of their other projects. Stewart also made a reference to her “English boyfriend” in an interview with GQ in 2011.

Cheating Scandal
Months prior to the release of the final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2, Stewart was caught cheating on Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in July 2012. The scandal swept the nation and forced Stewart to release a statement apologizing to those close to her, including Pattison, who she mentioned by name.

Parting Ways

The couple briefly split following the cheating scandal, but they reunited in October of 2012, just one month prior to the release of Breaking Dawn Part 2. The couple was spotted together at Coachella in 2013 and celebrated Stewart’s birthday in April, but by May of the same year, they decided to call it quits again.

Despite breaking up over six years ago, the two actors are still asked about one another frequently, since their relationship was so high-profile. In an interview with Howard Stern in November of 2019, Stewart revealed that she would’ve married Pattinson had he asked her.
