At just 45, Ralphie May died on Friday after suffering from pneumonia and after succumbing to cardiac arrest. The stand out standup comic competed on NBC’s first season of Last Comic Standing.
May, who hails from Tennessee and was raised in Arkansas, enjoyed a Harrah’s Las Vegas residency. However, his most recent gig–which was ongoing until he was found dead at a Las Vegas home–was a nationwide comedy tour.
“We are heartbroken to announce the untimely death of our friend, Ralphie May,” said his representative in a Twitter statement.
The tweet continued, “Ralphie had been battling pneumonia and had cancelled a handful of dates over the last month in an effort to recover. Earlier this morning at a private residence in Las Vegas his body was discovered, cause of death is cardiac arrest.’
We wish his family, which includes his wife and two children, and his friends our deepest condolences.
