The world of S.W.A.T. is about to expand in a big way. Sony Pictures Television has officially confirmed the cast for S.W.A.T. Exiles, the highly anticipated spinoff set to begin production later this month in Los Angeles.

New Recruits

Joining the action are Lucy Barrett (Deep Water, Charmed), Adain Bradley (Xander, The Bold and the Beautiful), Zyra Gorecki (La Brea), Freddy Miyares (When They See Us), and Ronen Rubinstein (9-1-1: Lone Star). These new faces will stand alongside returning The Young and Restless fan favorites, Shemar Moore (Malcolm).

The world of S.W.A.T. is getting a bold new chapter. Back in July, casting calls for S.W.A.T. Exiles teased a lineup of fresh faces with intriguing backstories: a charismatic Black former Marine from South Central, an undercover cop with a controversial shooting in his past, an amputee who refuses to be sidelined despite graduating at the top of her academy class, a tactical genius with limited social skills, and a former beauty queen turned law enforcement “influencer.”

Now, fans know what’s in store. According to the official logline, the series follows Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Shemar Moore), who is pulled out of forced retirement after a high-profile mission goes wrong. Tasked with leading an experimental SWAT unit made up of unpredictable, untested recruits, Hondo must bridge a generational divide, manage clashing personalities, and prove that this squad of outsiders can rise to the challenge of protecting the city.

Welcome Back, Old Friends

Familiar faces will also return. Jay Harrington is stepping back into the role of Sergeant David “Deacon” Kay, and Patrick St. Esprit will reprise his part as Commander Robert Hicks. Fans may recall that Harrington expressed disappointment at not initially being part of the project, but his inclusion in the spinoff ensures continuity for longtime viewers.

Production on the 10-episode first season begins later this month in Los Angeles, reuniting the same 200-person crew who worked on the original series. That decision not only preserves the authentic S.W.A.T. look and feel but also honors the people who helped build the franchise’s success.

With its mix of new recruits, familiar favorites, and high-stakes storytelling, S.W.A.T. Exiles promises to deliver the action-packed drama fans have come to expect while breaking new ground for the franchise.
