Here’s What Holly Robinson Peete Thinks of The Talk’s Cancellation

Holly Robinson Peete was one of the original co-hosts of The Talk. Even though she was let go in 2011, she still watches the daytime talk show. CBS shocked viewers when it announced the cancellation, and Holly sounded off on the news in a recent interview.

OG Returns to Old Stomping Grounds

Peete returned to the talk show she used to co-host. The Hallmark Channel star was a guest on the Friday, October 11th episode. She was initially one of the first co-hosts alongside Julie Chen Moonves, Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini, Sara Gilbert, and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

After the first season, Peete, Remini, and Winokur were let go. The talk show underwent many changes throughout the years. Peete still feels bitter about her firing. She also had a negative experience with the talk show, yet she still watches it to this day.

Natalie Morales is one of the remaining cohosts. She mentioned that Holly was one of the show’s OGs. Natalie asked Holly about her thoughts on the cancellation. She told the hosts she was “sorry” to hear the news and added, “it doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

“But at the end of the day, it’s great to have been on the first show and on one of the last shows,” Peete added.

Akbar Gbajabiamila revealed the first thing he did when he got his co-hosting gig. He reached out to Peete for advice. He recalled that she was “motivating” and “pushing” him to grasp this “new opportunity.” She didn’t let her negative experience impact his decision.

Is a Daytime Shakeup Coming?

The final episode of The Talk will air on December 20, 2024. The new daytime soap Beyond the Gates is said to replace it in its timeslot. The groundbreaking soap will feature a prominent Black family.

There are also rumors that a new daytime shakeup is coming. Viewers are not interested in watching talk shows. They would like to see soap operas take over daytime television once again.

Networks are aware of the demand. ABC’s The View might undergo budget cuts to accommodate new programming. Perhaps, this new programming means a return to storytelling.
