Dynasty is coming to The CW in an unexpected way. The network, once known for daring to defy, was home to the iconic soap opera’s reboot from 2017-2022. Now the original will be celebrated in an episode of TV We Love, a docuseries set to debut in October.

The award-winning primetime soap, which was ABC’s answer to Dallas, was wildly popular for most of its nine season run. Viewers were enthralled with the characters’ bold fashion, scheming, dramatics, and passion. The series was a trendsetter and, though cemented firmly in its genre’s over-the-top style of storytelling, tackled plots about rape, racial integration, and homosexuality.

Dynasty Stars in TV We Love

Featured in the Dynasty episode are Al Corley and Jack Coleman. Both actors played Steven Carrington, the son of leading man Blake Carrington who not only has opposing political views to his father but also won’t follow in his footsteps and is a gay man. Corley played Steven for the show’s first two seasons and returned for the reunion miniseries. Coleman took up the role for seasons 3-8 before Steven was written out.

Pamela Sue Martin is also featured. The actress originated the role of Fallon Carrington, Steven’s sister, whose ambitions go unnoticed by their father in favor of keeping her in a “woman’s place.” Overlooked but as ruthless as Blake, Fallon is protective of her family and their business interests. She also likes to toy with men. Martin played the character from seasons 1-4.

Viewers can anticipate creators, scholars, and TV insiders making appearances throughout TV We Love‘s eight episodes, including Dynasty‘s behind-the-scenes exploration. The docuseries aims to reveal surprising details and insights into the creative processes that went into producing the cultural touchstones that generations know and love.
