We’re just a couple of weeks away from Virgin River‘s sixth season. The Netflix hit drama drops on December 19, so it’s natural for the streaming platform to release a trailer to get everyone excited.
In the world of Virgin River, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) are THE couple. They recently experienced heartbreak when Mel miscarried the baby she was carrying. This happened during the wildfires that threatened to take down the town. But the two persevered through the tragedy, and now they are apparently getting married.
Netflix’s season six synopsis gives a sneak peek into what to expect. “Against the backdrop of Mel and Jack’s romantic spring wedding season, this sixth installment promises fresh twists and turns, escalating love triangles, delightful wedding drama, as well as uncovered secrets from Mel’s father’s past, which will transport us to the magic and mystique of Virgin River in the 1970s.”

This means a time jump and flashbacks are on the way. Meanwhile, Jack is in his tux in the trailer, and we see Mel in her wedding dress from behind. So we won’t definitively know what she looks like in her dress until all ten episodes are available later this month.
Of course, many other things will happen in this gorgeous wooded small town in the new season. It looks like there’s a full-blown love triangle involving Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), Brie (Zibby Allen), and Mike (Marco Grazzini). Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) is full-on pregnant, which is a little surprising considering it took Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) five seasons to have her twins.
Will Doc (Tim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) continue to deal with their health issues? Plus, Kaia (Kandyse McClure) and Preacher’s (Colin Lawrence) relationship seems to be progressing despite the fact that at the end of season five, the culinary genius was fearful that the law might catch up to him. After all, he did bury a body in the woods.
That’s John Allen Nelson, Santa Barbara‘s Warren Lockeridge, who plays Mel’s long-lost father. The former soap star will play a key role in season six. Those ’70s flashbacks will undoubtedly involve a younger version of his character and a young version of Mel’s mother, who passed away pre-series.
