Milo Ventimiglia is the latest celebrity to lose his home to the Los Angeles wildfire. He saw a connection between this devastating loss and a similar tragedy his character on This Is Us went through.
The fires are still raging in Los Angeles and have spread to other areas, including the Palisades, Hollywood Hills, Eaton, and Kenneth. Ventimiglia shared his raw feelings as he witnessed his home burn down on the security cameras. He called the moment “eery.” Ventimiglia and his wife, Jarah Mariano, evacuated their home on Tuesday, January 7.
The couple was helpless as they watched their family home burn down on the security cameras. Mariano is currently nine months pregnant. They packed up and left with their belongings. Unfortunately, they’re mourning the loss of their marital home, including their new nursery. In a candid interview with CBS Evening News, Ventimiglia returned to the place where his home once stood.
“We kind of accepted the loss. We’ve got good friends, and we got good people we’re working with, and we’ll make do,” he exclaimed. “Wife and baby and dog, most important.”
Ventimiglia felt “eery” from the fire. He recalled a storyline from Season 2 of This Is Us. His character, Jack Pearson, rushed to get his family out of the house before it burned down. He returned to save their dog and other belongings. Sadly, Jack passed away from inhaling too much smoke.
“It’s not lost on me, life imitating art,” Ventimiglia said as tears streamed down his face.
The actor has been inspired by the touching stories that have emerged from this devastation. He wants to help the community in some form. During his interview with CBS, Ventimiglia announced his partnership with Duracell. He also wants to educate others about wildfire safety, reports Variety.
Our thoughts go out to Ventimiglia and the thousands of Southern California residents who have lost their homes to the wildfire.
