Meg Ryan And Billy Crystal Reveal Harry And Sally’s Relationship Status In New Super Bowl Ad

Harry and Sally are back together. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal teased a possible reunion on social media. Now, it’s finally here. The two starred in a new Super Bowl ad, which includes a surprise Hollywood breakout star.

When Harry Met Sally is an iconic rom-com that still pulls heartstrings to this day. At the end of the movie, Harry (Billy Crystal) realizes he’s fallen for his friend Sally (Meg Ryan). He dashes to a New Year’s Eve party to confess his feelings for her. He started off his emotional speech by saying, “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.”

Harry and Sally met three months later, 12 years and three months after their first meeting, and they became friends, ending their romantic tension. More than 30 years after the comedy debuted in theaters, Ryan and Crystal are back together again. They returned to Katz’s Deli in New York City to recreate the movie’s most famous scene. Crystal and Ryan brought rom-com vibes to Hellmann’s new mayonnaise ad, which will air during the Super Bowl.

The commercial is called “When Sally Meets Hellmann’s.” It’s a spoof on the iconic scene with women everywhere saying, “I’ll have what she’s having.” Sally noticed something was lacking from her turkey sandwich. Once she spreads Hellmann’s Mayonnaise onto her sandwich, she takes another bite and gets excited. Harry now realizes he has to compete with a condiment. The duo spoke with CNN about their reunion. Ryan confirmed Sally and Harry’s relationship status.

“I don’t know what they intended it, but what we like about it is that you’re inside a little bit of their happily ever after,” Ryan said. “Thirty-five years later, you get the idea that they’re still going here, they’re together, they’re still talking the way they talk to each other. It’s like a little wink at the movie.”

Happily Ever After

Unfortunately, no sequel to When Harry Meets Sally is in the works. But this ad should suffice for fans for now. Crystal gushed about the chemistry between their characters. It’s as if time never passed. Crystal and Ryan picked up where they left off.

“Is the right word comfortable? I don’t know; it just makes sense! That’s always been something, is that you can’t really define it,” Crystal explained. “I knew it the first time that we met when Meg came in. I was already cast in the movie and when Meg came in to talk and then to read, we just said, ‘Let’s start shooting.’ It just felt right and great right away. And it did on this day, too.”

Both Crystal and Ryan discussed the ever-growing popularity of When Harry Met Sally, which has brought on a new generation of fans. The movie explored the idea of whether men and women could be friends without romance. The Super Bowl ad also has another superstar. Actress Sydney Sweeney mouths the infamous line, “I’ll have what she’s having.” Crystal said about the Euphoria star, “She was great. I think it will be a delicious little sweet treat at the end.”
