Love, Loss, and a Fierce Storm Causes Major Drama in Sweet Magnolias Season 4 Trailer

While Sweet Magnolias is all about friendship, love, and joy, it’s also about earth-shattering, life-changing drama. The latest trailer for Netflix’s mega-hit series gives off a bit of an ominous vibe, including a major and potentially damaging storm. Is something tragic about to happen to Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue’s strong bond? We’re worried.

Weathering Storms

Maddie: All the storms we’ve weathered, we’ll weather this one too.

During the fourth season of Sweet Magnolias, Helen (Heather Headley), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Maddie (Joanna Garcia Swisher) fall prey to different types of drama. There’s the one that’s of their own making, where they make decisions that could affect or damage their friendship.

Cal: What are you afraid of most?

Maddie: Losing someone I love.

There’s drama that is out of everybody’s control. Maddie says she’s afraid of losing someone she loves. Is that what happens? Dana Sue talks about everyone leaving her. Her daughter probably goes to college. But what about Ronnie (Brandon Quinn)? He is positively reflective in the trailer.

Helen: Things are tough right now. They’ll get worse if we wanna keep the lights on in this town.

There’s the kind of devastating damage only Mother Nature causes. And the town really looks like it gets hit hard by some sort of fierce storm. Is it a hurricane? The upcoming season centers around the holiday season from Halloween to Christmas, which does include the tail end of hurricane season.

No Toasting Regrets

Maddie: To things that I could’ve done differently.

Dana Sue: Sweet Magnolias don’t toast regrets. We toast hope, love, and occasionally top-tier gossip.

It seems like the trio of friends at the heart of the Sweet Magnolias story may struggle with each other and in their respective relationships. Last season, Cal (All My Children alum Justin Bruening) really had a rough time of it. Will his actions affect his relationship with Maddie, or does something else blow in and threaten to blow them up?

Meanwhile, can Helen and Erik (Dion Johnstone) develop into a strong couple? Not if they let their pasts, their insecurities, or any preconceived notions get in the way.

Friends Carry On

Helen: No matter how far from each other we may be, the three of us will always be strength, will always be love, will always be home.

No matter what happens, we’re used to the fearless three being ride or die for each other. Will their bond weather what they’re about to experience individually and together?

And it looks like the entire town will have to support each other in the wake of that storm. Rough waters ahead when Sweet Magnolias season four premieres Thursday, February 6, on Netflix.
