Hallmark Channel’s Sugarplummed is one of those holiday movies that messes with the stereotypical formula. It stars Maggie Lawson from Psych and Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars. And it’s fun, sweet, and about as meta as a Hallmark Media movie can get.
Not Your Typical Holiday Movie
Every once in a while, Hallmark loves to release a different kind of movie—one with a higher concept that defies the average holiday flick. Sugarplummed is one of those. It’s magical and super meta, yet it’s still sweet and family-oriented. Lessons are learned, snowballs are thrown, gingerbread houses are made, relationships are repaired, cookies are baked, and Christmas trees are decorated.
Synopsis: When Emily (Maggie Lawson) wishes for a perfect Christmas like the ones found in the popular “Sugarplum” movies, she’s shocked when Sugarplum (Janel Parrish) herself appears to help her fulfill it.

At the heart of this story are two women: Emily, the lawyer who really wants to give her husband and two kids the perfect Christmas. Of course, it goes incredibly wrong before it all goes incredibly right. And this is because of Sugarplum, the star of countless Sugarplum movies that air on a Hallmark-type channel. Through magic, Sugarplum steps right out of her perfect holiday movie universe and into Emily’s chaotic and perfectly imperfect life.
