Hallmark Media has big news for fans of Mistletoe Murders. The network renewed the series for a second season. The first season currently streams on Hallmark+. Will it come to Hallmark Movies and Mysteries?
Cracking The Case
Hallmark has aired many cozy mysteries over the years, like Murder, She Baked with Days of our Lives alum Alison Sweeney, or the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries starring Candace Cameron Bure. However, it achieved success with the Mistletoe Murders in the streaming age. The network wanted to find a way to blend the holiday season with a cozy mystery.
“We had searched for the right series to blend Christmas with mysteries – two genres our viewers love – and Mistletoe Murders cracked that case to perfection. The enthusiastic audience reaction made the decision to renew the series an easy one,” Senior Vice President of Programming, Hallmark Media, Samantha DiPippo, explained to Deadline. “After the jaw-dropping season finale that left fans asking, ‘Who is Emily Lane?’ we look forward to another riveting holiday in Fletcher’s Grove filled with mystery, romance, and, of course, Christmas.”
The series follows Emily Lane (Sarah Drew), who owns a small business. However, she has kept a cunning secret. Grey’s Anatomy fans are familiar with Drew’s work on the ABC series. The show also features another star from the network. Peter Mooney, from Rookie Blue, plays detective Sam Wilner. The remainder of the cast includes Lara Amersey and Jean Yoon. Good Witch alum Kylee Evans rounds out the cast. (Is there a Good Witch reboot in the works?)
Season 2 Premiere News
There’s more in Deadline’s report. Filming for Season 2 will begin later this year, paving the way for a 2025 holiday premiere. Lionsgate Canada, Headspinner Productions, and Lionsgate Television are the brains behind the hit television series.
In case you’re wondering, Mistletoe Murders is adapted from the original eponymous series on Audible, which features Cobie Smulders and Raymond Black. All three seasons are available to listen to on Audible. Meanwhile, you can stream Season 1 of Mistletoe Murders on Hallmark+ and Peacock.
