It’s almost time for a new season of The Bachelor, and fans can’t wait. Here’s what you need to know about the brand-new Bachelor, Grant Ellis.
Like most who came before him, 31-year-old Grant was a contestant on Jenn Tran’s season. He was let go before hometowns and was crushed because he had just told The Bachelorette that he was falling in love with her. “I poured everything out, and it wasn’t good enough,” he said when he exited. “It just sucks knowing that you feel some way about somebody, and they don’t feel the same about you.”
ABC announced Grant as the next Bachelor the morning after his elimination in an unexpected move. Bachelor Nation didn’t have to wait for the “After the Final Rose” episode at the end of the season. The goal was to let applicants know who they would be dating before applying to the show. The powers at be may have been trying to avoid the disastrous end that Jenn experienced. (Check out what happened to her after her Dancing With the Stars elimination.)
Grant is a former pro basketball player turned day trader from Newark, NJ. “You can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting strikes at the bowling alley, or belting out tunes at karaoke nights,” states his ABC bio, which also calls him a “self-proclaimed mama’s boy.”
Grant knows what he wants. “Some qualities that I’m looking for in a potential partner is somebody who is adventurous, somebody who is affectionate and somebody who is loving,” he wrote on his Instagram. “I can’t wait for this incredible journey to kick off. It’s going to be so fun, I hope you guys tune in!”
The new Bachelor will be dating 27 women, ranging in age from 23 to 32. We got a sneak peek of the romance and drama that will unfold during The Golden Bachelorette’s After the Final Rose.
One contestant called Grant “authentic” and said he is “genuinely seeking a wife and a mother for his kids,” while another said he is the “hottest Bachelor ever.” He was shown horseback riding and playing the piano on dates. There was even one with the full Cinderella treatment.
There is always plenty of crying and fighting between the contestants, and this season is no different. It also appears to be a cliffhanger ending with Grant torn between two women down to the last minute.
Tune in to ABC on Monday, January 27th, to get on the latest rollercoaster of The Bachelor. Will you be watching? Let us know in the comments.
