Questions loom about Hallmark+‘s hit series Chicken Sisters, which concluded its first season in October 2024. The project belonged to Linda Hamilton Daly, who was fired from Hallmark Media.
Deadline first broke the news of Daly’s firing on Monday, January 6. She has worked with Hallmark Media since 2021. Daly was involved with the lead programming and development involving the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. She was ultimately removed as Executive Vice President.
Daly was responsible for the success of Hallmark’s new shows, including Holidazed, Mistletoe Murders, and The Way Home. Ripple is another one of Daly’s projects, which will premiere on Hallmark+ later this year. However, Daly’s projects were overrun by controversy. In October, it was reported that Penny Parry sued Daly for age discrimination. DAYS alum Alison Sweeney was also at risk of losing her job.
Daly allegedly called Lacey Chabert and Holly Robinson Peete “our leading ladies” who were “aging out.” She demanded that they find “new talent to take their place.” In a statement, Hallmark Media revealed that they plan to expand their content “across multiple platforms” under Chief Brand Officer Darren Abbott. “Darren has an innate understanding of the Hallmark brand, and paired with his leadership and vision, he will ensure our content aligns with the promise of our legacy brand,” the statement read.
New questions emerged after Daly’s firing. Is Chicken Sisters still safe? Despite the news of Daly’s firing, the project is still a go. Production Weekly revealed a new clue, listing the second season of the Hallmark+ series.
However, Hallmark hasn’t officially renewed or confirmed Season 2 of Chicken Sisters. What are your thoughts on Daly’s firing? Could this impact some of the projects related to the new streaming service? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
