Anora shocked everyone went it swept the Oscars on Sunday night. It won five of the six awards that it was nominated for. Rising star Mikey Madison won the highly coveted award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She became the youngest actress to win an award for her role of the titular character. The Young and the Restless alum Erika Jayne also won an award that night. She made a small contribution to the critically acclaimed film.
Secret Contribution
The Oscars hype hasn’t died down yet. It’s been revealed that Erika made a small contribution to the movie of the year, Anora. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is best known for her music career. Her collaboration with rapper Brooke Candy was featured in the film. In a new interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Erika opened up about this new accolade.
Understandably, she was excited to have her work noticed by the Academy Awards. Even though Erika had a small contribution to the movie, she attended a screening through the movie’s partnership with the production company. She was shocked when Anora received Oscar buzz. The movie is about a New York-based sex worker who falls in love with the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch.
At first, the collaboration was a fun project. She didn’t have any feelings toward the song. The outspoken Bravo star wasn’t feeling it at the time of its release. But now, she’s excited that it ended up in the Oscar-winning film. “Can you imagine?! I mean, like this song that I recorded a few years ago, where I was like, ‘Eh,’ and now here it is. It’s in Anora,” she exclaimed.

Anora Sweeps Oscars
On Sunday, March 2, there was an unexpected sweep at the Oscars. Writer, director, and editor Sean Baker took home four awards, alone. This is the most Oscars won for one person for a single film. The movie tied Walt Disney’s record for the most wins. One of the other awards was for Best Film Editing, which featured a scene with a familiar song. Erika’s RHOBH co-star Bozoma Saint John congratulated her on social media. “So bascially, [Erika] won an adjacent [Academy] Award since her song is featured in this Oscar winning Best Picture film!”
Erika was connected to an Oscar-winning film before. Her ex-husband, Tom Girardi, was the lawyer who inspired the film, Erin Brockovich. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, but lost. However, Julia Roberts did take home the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Erika is now making strides on her own, without her former husband. She’s set to make her mark in pop culture, no matter how big or small.
