Medical dramas are still hot on primetime TV. CBS just premiered its new show, Watson. Meanwhile, Max has the hit series Pitt. ABC wants to expand the 9-1-1 franchise with a new show set in Nashville. There’s also the long-running series Grey’s Anatomy and the hot new drama Doctor Odyssey. Don’t forget about everyone’s favorite soap, General Hospital. Now, Netflix is entering the space with its first-ever medical drama, Pulse.

Paging Grey’s Anatomy and ER Fans

The streaming giant ordered 10 episodes of this procedural drama from executive producer Zoe Robyn. Pulse will follow a medical staff who works at the Level 1 Trauma Center in Miami. TVLine unveiled the first glimpse at the show, complete with first-look photos and a synopsis that reads:

“Amid the worsening storm and an onslaught of trauma cases, the hospital goes into lockdown, and Danny [Willa Fitzgerald] and Phillips [Colin Woodell] must find a way to work together — even as the bombshell details of a complicated and illicit romance between them begin to spill out. The rest of the ER is left to process the fallout of their relationship while balancing their own challenges, both personal and professional, as they work under the pressures of life-or-death stakes. Because for this tight-knit group of doctors, saving their patients’ lives is often less complicated than living their own.”

This alone is giving fans major Grey’s Anatomy vibes. Fitzgerald and Woodell will play Dr. Danny Simms and Dr. Xander Phillips. Justina Machado, an ER alum, is also in the cast. She last starred in the hit Netflix reboot One Day at a Time with living legend Rita Moreno. She joins Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves, Jack Bannon, and Jessie T. Usher.

Pulse Has a Premiere Date

Netflix has yet to release a trailer for the series. However, the show has a premiere date. Season 1 will premiere on Thursday, April 3, reports TVInsider. You don’t have to wait for a new episode each week. Netflix will drop all 10 episodes on that day. What are your thoughts on this new series? Let us know in the comment section.
