Love triangles are common in the soap opera world. Not a day goes by when you see one of your favorite characters in one. Doctor Odyssey wants to shake up the soap opera genre. The steamy primetime soap found its antidote to this classic trope.
The ABC medical drama was on a two-week hiatus. Episode 6 returned with a wedding ceremony. Country singer Kelsea Ballerini guest starred as Lisa, a guest who was getting married to her fiancé Eric (Hudson Oz). She was desperate to have the perfect wedding. However, it was clear these two were doomed from the start.
The episode took a grim turn with a ringworm case onboard. Both Eric and his best man Bennett (Kevin Zegers) had a mysterious rash on their bodies. Lisa ended up sick as well. It turns out that she slept with the best man.
Meanwhile, her husband was unfaithful because of his struggle with sex addiction. Unfortunately, he jumped ship and met his fate on the night of their wedding.
Needless to say, the wedding didn’t happen. Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan (Sean Teale) went to get a late night snack from the kitchen. They attacked the wedding cake. Max (Joshua Jackson) caught them and then grabbed a champagne bottle.
The trio discussed their bucket list goals by the pool. The conversation later ended up in Max’s room, where they continued to share more about their life goals. By this point, Avery and Tristan admitted they would be down for a threesome.
Max admitted he already had one. But it wasn’t fun because the other parties were more interested in each other. Avery hinted that he should “have a good threesome.” The trio, who’s been in a love triangle since the show’s premiere, decided to go all in.
Next week’s preview shows that their throuple will continue. Avery tells Max and Tristan that she knows that night was supposed to be a “one time thing,” but she had too much fun.

In an interview with TV Insider, Teale talked about the love triangle trope. “Obviously at the root of this story are the three of us. And that’s never going to change… The love triangle is a big part of the show, and that competition is gonna stay,” he suggested.
This throuple is about to get messy. It’s also a risky move for the series, which is under the Disney-ABC Television Group. It’s safe to say it probably won’t last for long.
