Fire Country usually airs on Friday nights. The hit CBS show was pulled from the lineup. The network made this last-minute decision amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
Deadline first broke the news that a new episode of Fire Country will not air on Friday, January 10. The network pulled the show from the lineup because of current events. The wildfires in Los Angeles have left thousands of citizens without homes. The network felt it would be inappropriate to air a show about Northern California firefighters.
Fire Country stars Max Thieriot. It’s inspired by his personal life during the 2017 North Bay firestorm. Theiriot plays Bode Donovan, a convict who joins a firefighting team in Northern California. The career move changes his life for the better and motivates him to help others.
In its 8:00 p.m. ET timeslot will be a repeat of NCIS: Sydney. The January 10 schedule on CBS includes two rebroadcasts of NCIS: Sydney, followed by a repeat of S.W.AT. at 10 p.m. ET. No other changes are being made to the primetime schedule, reports Deadine. NBC will move forward with airing a new episode of Chicago Fire. The drama is returning from its holiday break.
The Los Angeles wildfires have led to the cancellation of Hollywood events. It’s also halted production on numerous television shows. Soaps could also be the most impacted by the wildfires. This will be the most recognizable since soaps film new episodes on a daily basis.
Understandably, productions will cease operations until it’s safe to return. For now, the focus is on getting the wildfires out. Currently, there are 10,000 homes, buildings, and other structures destroyed, reports The Associated Press. There is also 0% containment of the wildfires, now that new fires have popped up, including the Kenneth Fire on Thursday afternoon.
