Grant Ellis has no idea what he got into. He thought he was meeting 25 women at the mansion. The Bachelor threw in a shocking twist that could change the direction of the competition.
America’s favorite dating show is back. Grant Ellis is the next young man looking for love. The 31-year-old hopes it will happen. Ellis is the second Black man to lead The Bachelor. Matt James was cast as the first Black Bachelor in 2020.
Ellis was one of the men who competed for Jenn Tran’s heart on The Bachelorette. However, Ellis was eliminated before the hometown dates. Ellis thought for sure he found love with Tran. Now, the New Jersey native is diving back into the dating pool. This time, 25 women will be competing for his attention.
ABC’s latest Instagram post revealed a shocking new twist. The clip from the premiere shows Ellis snuggling up to one of the contestants. “I’m ecstatic. I’m excited. I just met 25 fabulous women,” the day trader tells producers. He feels good about finding the right woman this time around.
But here’s the twist: One more lady is entering the mansion. The mysterious woman walks out of the limousine. The other women look at her in shock. She says “Hi” as she walks by the group. Ellis is talking to one of the ladies. The woman asks, “Can I steal Grant for a second?” Ellis looks like he knows her. He looks up at her and laughs. “The Bachelor? Without a twist? Please, you know us better than that. See you tonight!” the caption coyly reads.

Bachelor Nation fans are spiraling over this clip. They want to know who the mystery lady is. Some of them believe she’s one of Ellis’s ex-girlfriends. After all, this wouldn’t be the first time that the show has thrown exes into the mix. Other fans shared differing theories. “His sister?” one fan asked. “Probably his sister or someone in his family,” another user noted. “On the first episode is kinda crazy,” a third user commented.
There were also teasers in the comment section. Contestant Beverly Bortega wrote, “Wait till you see who it is.” One woman named Lolita Young responded with three pairs of eyes (👀👀👀👀). Another named Ava Rose added, “I’m so excited.” What’s also interesting is that fitness trainer Gena Hudson tagged Kiesha Hudson-Peterson with the comment, “Tuning in?” Could it be any of these women?
The Bachelor premieres on ABC on Monday, January 27, at 8 p.m. EST. New episodes stream the following day on Hulu.
