9-1-1: Nashville‘s official trailer lives up to showrunner Rashad Raisani’s description of the procedural drama having “…some Succession…and some Dynasty slipped in there.”

The latest entry in the firefighter franchise will blend the daring dos the shows are known for with soapy storytelling. In the series premiere, country music star Kane Brown is set to cameo as himself. Brown will be involved in an incident at a concert that calls for him to be heroic.

While ridiculous and extreme first responder calls are sure to delight viewers, it’s the family drama that’ll likely hook people. We’ll be dropped into Captain Don Hart’s life just as he’s reunited with his estranged son, Blue Bennings.

What To Expect From the 9-1-1: Nashville premiere

In true soap fashion, Blue (Hunter McVey) and Don (Chris O’Donnell) come face-to-face in a hilariously ludicrous situation. Blue is a witness to an accident involving drunk bachelorette partygoers. And he’s in a firefighter costume because he works at the nearby strip club. It’s his brother, Ryan (Michael Provost), who happens upon him as he’s saving someone.

Blue’s quick thinking on the scene is being complimented by Ryan, just as Don recognizes who he is. Cue a family shake-up that’ll have Don’s wife, Blythe (Jessica Capshaw), suspicious of Blue. She’s right to be skeptical. Blue’s mother, Dixie (LeAnn Rimes), wants him to get in good with the Hart family so he can be set for life.

The push and pull of who Blue wants to be, and the plan Dixie wants him to follow, is sure to be rife with the kind of drama that’ll keep you tuning in from week to week. Also, if it’s the danger and thrills of a firefighter series that you’re looking forward to, count on the procedural showcasing tornadoes that tear through Music City, including a firenado!
