5 Theme Weeks Doctor Odyssey Needs to Do in 2025

Doctor Odyssey will set sail again in March 2025. The ABC primetime soap has a weekly theme. The passengers get to encounter a week filled with unforgettable experiences and mystery illnesses. (It is a medical drama, after all.) When the show returns, there are some theme weeks that fans would love to see.

80s Week

This sounded like a no-brainer. Don Johnson stars as Captain Robert Massey in the Ryan Murphy ABC series. The crew should’ve thrown an 80s-themed costume party during “Halloween Week.” It would’ve been perfect to see Max (Joshua Jackson) and Tristan (Sean Teale) dress as Crockett (Johnson) and Tubbs (Phillip Michael Thomas) from Miami Vice.

Murder Mystery

Sure, this show is a medical drama. But it would be fun to have a murder mystery cruise. The crew could interact with the passengers more on a personal level.

Captain Massey would encourage them to get involved with the murder mystery dinner somehow. Everyone would have to wear costumes from the Roaring ’20s. Then, a medical emergency would throw the dinner off course. This would be one of the most riveting episodes in the show’s history.

Greek Mythology

All aboard for the Greek mythology cruise! This would be a fun take on the show’s premise on Poseidon and The Odyssey. During “Halloween Week,” Max dressed as Poseidon, unveiling his unconventional interest in oceanic mythology.

Valentine’s Day

A Valentine’s Day special week could be a fun take on The Love Boat. The episode could open with the classic theme song, as it featured the celebrity guest stars. The show could make it happen since The Love Boat premiered on ABC in 1977. So, they might still have the rights to the song and footage.

Also, a Valentine’s Day episode could allow Avery (Phillipa Soo) to explore her feelings for Max and Tristan. As fans already know, the primetime soap centers around the iconic love triangle. The three explored a throuple relationship, which quickly crumbled, disappointing fans. Avery will have no choice but to realize who she’s really in love with.

Christmas

The Odyssey docked in late November 2024. It missed the opportunity to air a Christmas special. It would’ve been interesting to see how the characters deal with the holiday season, especially Captain Massey.

He already admitted that he hated Halloween because he had to work instead of spending time with his kids. Massey could reunite with them in a future episode. Maybe they could surprise him. Plus, there’s something about Christmas that has everyone in their feels.
