Warning! The following details how Pauley Perrette left the long-running series NCIS! If the show’s on your DVR, watch it first and then come back and read this story!
It appeared that Abby was going to be killed off the show in light of her mugging, but when viewers saw who had passed away it wasn’t Abby but rather Clay (played by Duane Henry)!
Abby survived the attack and was being treated in the hospital. It was rare for the NCIS team to have to solve a case without Abby, and as it turns out, they didn’t have to do that at all!
The NCIS team did figure out that it wasn’t a simple mugging that landed Abby in a sick bed and Clay in the morgue. A killer had been hired to take Abby out. Later, Abby woke up and aided in tracking down who her assailant was!
Abby was able to help figure out who shot her by seeing someone hacked her computer her to find out where she’d been dining before the shooting.
Her nemesis is a bio-weapons terrorist named King, who has sought revenge on Abby since she helped put him behind bars years ago. King admits his crime and he’s arrested.
After viewing Clay’s body in the morgue, Abby informed her NCIS co-workers (except for Gibbs) that she was taking his body back to England and added that she wouldn’t be coming back.
Abby said she was going to start a charity in honor of Clay’s mom and added that her farewell wasn’t going to be forever! Perhaps we’ll see Abby again?
In the meantime, check out a special farewell video Perrette posted on social media to her fans. Check it out! NCIS airs Tuesdays on CBS at 8 p.m.
