With the new season of NCIS: Los Angeles rapidly approaching, we’ve decided to look back at the previous year and compile a set of our top eight questions that we hope get answers relatively soon.

NCIS: Los Angeles – Eight Questions About Season 12

We’re wondering about the look of the series, the personal relationship dramas, and the various changes foisted upon the team by new recruits and a new captain at the helm.

1. What Exactly Does A Post-COVID World Look Like?
Spoilers have revealed that when NCIS: LA returns for Season 12, it will be set in a “post-pandemic world.” But what exactly will that entail? Especially considering the fact that the series will be filmed using protocols designed to keep the actors healthy and protected. At the very least, we can probably expect to see the agents on more solo missions than normal since scenes depicting law-enforcement partners will be more difficult to shoot.

2. Will Callen and Anna *Gasp* Settle Down?
Agent G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) hasn’t exactly had the best luck where amore is concerned. He’s been betrayed by his lovers and he has, in turn, done the betraying. But it appears that he may have finally found a relationship worth keeping… though how an NCIS agent and a mercenary for hire can really make a go of it is anyone’s guess.

3. Sexual Healing For Sam Hanna?
Ever since the murder of his beloved Michelle (Aunjanue Ellis), Hanna (LL Cool J) has dutifully cared for his two children and kept their mother’s memory alive. But life without female companionship has taken its toll.

There were evident sparks between him and shady insurance broker Katherine Casillas (Moon Bloodgood) – and Hanna even ended up on her doorstep in the season’s antepenultimate episode. It seems that Katherine will soon be back on the scene, which might indicate a whole new adventure for one of the series’ most beloved characters.

4. Will Justice Be Served?
NCIS: LA’s truncated 10th season ended with the arrest of Navy Chief Petty Officer Thomas Argento (Juan Riedinger) for the murder of an unarmed prisoner and the attempted murder of several others including Hanna and Callen. He swore that his familial connections in D.C. would result in his exoneration and Hanna promised to prove him wrong. But will the forces of good really triumph over evil?

5. What’s Next For Deeks and Kensi?
The path to true love never ran smoothly for Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah). In fact, their road to the altar was as bumpy as any couple on one of the daytime soaps. But make it they did. And they’ve continued to prosper as a couple. But what does the future hold for these two? They fell in love, got married…is a baby carriage far behind?

6. Does Rountree Have What It Takes?
First, he was a suspect in an espionage/murder case. Then, once his good name and reputation were restored, Devin Rountree (Caleb Castille) wound up being offered a position on the Los Angeles-based NCIS unit.

Though he shadowed the group, Rountree struggled with the choice. Could he really walk away from his career with the FBI? According to spoilers, he does indeed do just that. But will he succeed in his new profession?

7. Nelle Jones, Lady Boss?
When we last left the fictional world occupied by the NCISers, Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith), Intelligence Analyst par excellence, was ready to chuck it all and walk away. Luckily, she was talked into merely taking a hiatus during which she would consider her options.

But by the conclusion of Season 11’s premiere episode, she’ll find herself manipulated into taking the reigns of the team…does she have what it takes to run an entire division? And does she even want to?

8. So Long Hetty?
Hetty has been desperately trying to resign her post for nigh on 21 years, but every time she does, they manage to pull her back in. But given the fact that Nell will soon be taking over the running of the ship and the rumor that Hetty will once again be on a “secret mission,” does this mean we might have seen the last of the “tea-sipping Svengali?”

It might be. At least, until it’s deemed safe enough for Hetty’s portrayer, Linda Hunt, to return to filming. And there’s no telling when that might be. What will NCIS: Los Angeles look like without one of their most beloved stars – and character – front and center? That’s a question only time will answer.

NCIS: Los Angeles will return to CBS’s Sunday night lineup on November 8. Check your local listings for airtimes.
