Like most shows, CBS’ hit Mom started production later than usual in 2020, due to fears over the COVID-19 pandemic, but it still managed to make it on the air by October.
Mom Uses Safety Precautions
Thanks to strong safety measures taken by both cast and crew, the show has managed to complete its first eight episodes of the season, with the final episode of its pre-winter break airing this Thursday.
The Mom Instagram account has been great at posting on-set images of the cast this year, and recently posted some photos showing the filming of the upcoming episode, which had the on-set safety protocols on full display.
“We hope you like these #BehindTheScenes photos!” the account posted. Throughout the images, you could see crew members in masks and standing apart from one another, keeping everyone safe.
The first shot, we see Bonnie (Allison Janney) and Adam (William Fichtner) at the kitchen table having a discussion, and we know from the synopsis, it’s not going to be a fun one for Adam. He has decided to go adaptive skiing in his wheelchair, and his wife is totally against it. Let’s remember, a fall while snowboarding is what landed the former stuntman in that chair to begin with.
The next shots feature an actor some may be surprised to see — Kevin Pollak, who hasn’t been on the show since the early episodes of Season 2. And the reason he hasn’t been seen is that his character, Bonnie’s ex-husband Alvin, was killed off after a romp in bed with Bonnie one night when it looked like they were on the road to getting back together.
According to the storyline, Alvin will be part of a dream sequence with Bonnie, and you can expect plenty of comic banter between the two former spouses and he sides with Adam on his decision. After Bonnie gets through with him, he may have wished he stayed dead. New episodes of Mom will resume in early 2021.
