Meghan McCain And Khizr Khan Get Emotional Discussing Trump Attacks

The father of deceased Army Captain Humayun Khan, Khizr Khan, appeared on The View Monday, March 25 and had a sweet moment with co-host Meghan McCain.

Khan and his family were attacked by President Trump back in 2016 after they appeared at the Democratic National Convention.

This attack on the Khan family is very similar to the way the McCain family has been treated by Trump over the years — attacks which the president renewed via Twitter recently.

“I am honored to sit under your grace, under your dignity. Under the grace of Senator McCain’s family. Our hero, hero of this nation. How dare this Russian-tainted president disrespect our hero,” Khan said during the show.

Khan also revealed the last thing he gave his son before his passing back in 2004 was Senator McCain’s book, Why Courage Matters.

“Whenever I would take that book, he would sit across the table without asking what political venue I belonged to, what are my perspectives, what are my political views,” Khan shared.

“He would try to, in his conversation, encourage me, hearten me. The example of Senator McCain, the encouragements of people like him, huddling with family, receiving encouraging letters from throughout the country.”

Following Khan’s appearance on the show, McCain shared photos on Instagram and thanked him for sharing his story.

“Thank you for your bravery and kind words Mr. Khan. Your family is an inspiration – it was an honor to have you @theviewabc today,” she captioned one photo.

“One more with Mr. Khan today @theviewabc — thank you for making me feel hopeful in a world where I find it increasingly more difficult to do so,” she wrote alongside another picture.

“All my love, respect and gratitude to all of the gold star families in this country who have given the ultimate sacrifice — I am eternally grateful and can’t imagine the unfathomable pain. We honor you always.”
