Mark Hamill may be the best co-star out there! The Star Wars veteran has been in the business for many decades, but he still knows how to show love and appreciation to his fellow cast members. In fact, he just shared a sweet message for co-star Daisy Ridley.
“SHOUT OUT to DAISY RIDLEY for no particular reason- other than being a fabulous actor, the sweetest of souls, someone who thoughtfully goes out of her way to return lost items & is more than generous with her complimentary piggy-back rides,” he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, April 10.
The part about going out of her way to return lost items could be about her character returning Luke’s lightsaber, which is just the funny kind of thing he would write. Though Hamill did say his ‘shout out’ was for no particular reason, it was Ridley’s 27th birthday on Wednesday.
In fact, this isn’t the first time Hamill has given Ridley — who plays Rey in the Star Wars franchise — a sweet post on her birthday.
Last year he tweeted, “SHOUT OUT to #DaisyRidley for no particular reason other than she is a brilliantly natural, instinctive actor, a delight to work with & the best piggy-back ride in the business! Luke should be so lucky to have had such a lovely daughter.”
Of course, Hamill was playing into the rumors Rey is actually Luke Skywalker’s daughter. Both Hamill and Ridley have been in two Star Wars films together — Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi — and they wrapped up the final film in the trilogy earlier this year.
Director J.J. Abrams shared a photo on the last day of filming of Ridley, John Boyega, who plays Finn, and Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe.
“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all,” Abrams wrote on Instagram in February.
